The "most International" Korean universities (2017)

Times Higher Education's World University Rankings has put out yet another set of statistics, this time for how "international" the school is. The list has 150 entries, and featured six Korean schools. No big surprises about who they are. So here you go, the top 6 most "international" Korean universities, with their world ranking number out of 150.

The Most International Universities in Korea

  1. Yonsei University (#127 worldwide)
  2. Korea University (#135 worldwide)
  3. Sungkyunkwan University (#138 worldwide)
  4. Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) (#140 worldwide)
  5. Seoul National University (#145 worldwide)
  6. Pohang University of Science and Technology (#150 worldwide)

Here's how they say they calculated these ranks:
This year’s table adds a fourth component, which makes up 25 per cent of the total score: a university’s international reputation. This is a measure of the ratio of international votes to domestic votes that the institution achieved in THE’s annual invitation-only Academic Reputation Survey, which asks leading scholars to name the world’s best universities for teaching and research in their field.
Only institutions that received at least 100 votes in the survey (at least 50 of which were from their home country) were eligible for inclusion.

You can see the whole list there at the link. Anyway, I thought this was mildly interesting. Based on all the foreign kids you see around Seoul wearing their Yonsei letterman's jackets, I'm not surprised it topped the list.

Credit where credit is due, I got the idea to go look up these rankings after reading this:
